505 _aWind data and energy yields are converted (standardised) to long-term periods by suitable methods. Long-term data suitable for the correlation of wind measurement data are data of meteorological stations and "geostrophic" wind data. Energy yields of wind turbines already installed are usually standardised in Germany by means of so-called wind indices in order to calculate the long-term average yield. The following article mainly deals with the selection of suitable long-term data and is an update and extension of [1]. The article concentrates on the wind indices used most frequently in Germany. With regard to the applicability of wind indices there are significant parallels to the global usability of longterm wind data as far as the correction and selection of the data are concerned.
