Business engineering: Is process the key?

Business process is still the ultimate goal for many, but the phrase reengineering (especially the re- prefix) has fallen into some disrepute. A more moderate stance on how much change is required to declare an organization doing BPR has emerged, but it still can be difficult to gain consensus on whether a given project is BPR or not. One way of distinguishing BPR from straight process improvement is to look at the causes being addressed: every day/common vs. specific/unusual.
