CASE tool construction for a parallel software development methodology

New software engineering methods can benefit from the support provided by appropriate CASE tools. This paper presents a case study in software tool construction for a new parallel software engineering methodology known as PARSE. The main purpose of the tools is to assist in the activities of notation and methodology development. The paper focuses on some technical aspects of the CASE tools' repository, and addresses practical issues of integration and implementation. The paper discusses issues of software design representation, and examines the use of relational technology for design representation and repository organisation. The paper comments on the author's experience of using a commercial, relational DBMS for repository implementation, and contains suggestions for further work in the area of CASE tool construction
