Grenzschichtabsaugung, Eine Methode zur Leistungssteigerung an Windkraftanlagen
The method of "boundary layer suction" was successfully applied for a rotating blade of a wind power station. The improvement of the performance is comparable to known values from the aerodynamic research. The net performance increasement reaches about 10 percent. The used suction holes are small slots with an effective cross section area of about one order of magnitude higher than usually used perforations. This decreases the pressure loss and therefore the necessary suction power. The soiling tendency of the perforation il also diminished. A passive design for the boundary layer suction which uses the centrifugal forces of the air inside the wing is on this account possible.
