Stocktaking and assessment of the potential for the development of wind energy in Northern Saxony-Anhalt

In the past years, Saxony-Anhalt regularly was among the regions with the highest newly installed wind energy capacity in Germany. With regard to the share of wind energy in the overall electricity generation, the structurally weak state even is in a leading position nation-wide: With a total installed capacity of 2,768 MW (status: 31.12.2007) the generation of electricity from wind meanwhile has reached nearly 40 p.c. of the total power consumption in Saxony-Anhalt.
