FGW project site yield: technical requirements for the determination of the site yield of wind turbines in accordance with EEG 2017

The EEG 2017 brought about not only the introduction of requests for proposals but also the change in calculation methods of reference yields (REV). The REV adapts the level of the feed-in tarif depending on the site quality, which should eneble the expansion of wind energy including sites with limited wind conditions. The REV has been changed from a two level system to a one level system, and therefore the term "site yield" was redefined. As a part of a BMNi (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) sponsored FGW project there are plans to develop and publish standards for the determination of the site yield according to this new definition. These standards refer to the determination of the site yield before the commissioning of the wind turbine (WT) and the verification of the site quality once it has been brought into service. This is relevant for all WT which receive compensation in the new one-level REV.
