Five Years of Offshore Measurements at the Fino1 Platform in the German Bight
In autumn 2003 the first German offshoreresearch platform FINO 1 was placed into operation in the German Bight, 45 km northwest of the island of Borkum. One of the main targets is the acquisition of new knowledge about the marine atmospheric boundary layer as well as a better understanding of the meteorological and hydrographical conditions in the offshore area. Because already in the test phase from September to December 2003 a recording of the measuring data occurred, today scientists and commercial users can access nearly five years of comprehensive record.
