The TORA software is an executable system with modules for 1. Matrix inversion 2. Solution of simultaneous linear equations 3. Linear programming 4. Transportation models 5. Network models 6. Integer programming 7. Queuing models 8. Project planning with CPM and PERT 9. Game theory Tora is designed in a manner that eliminates the need for a user's manual, with the different screen being accessed in a logical and unambiguous manner. The system can be executed in automated or tutorial mode. The automated Mode reports the final solution of the problem, usually in the standard format followed in commercial packages. The tutorial mode is a unique feature that provides immediate feedback to test the reader's understanding of the computational details of each algorithm. Directory ToraFiles includes the input data for most of the solved examples in the book, categorized by their respective chapters. Excel spreadsheet templates complement TORA's modules. These templates include 1. Dynamic programming 2. AHP (analytic hierarchy process) 3. Inventory models 4. Histogramming of raw data 5. Decision theory 6. Poisson queues, including the P-K formula 7. Simulation 8. Newton-Raphson method 9. Dichotomous/golden section method Each template provides an input data section which can be changed to solve problems with different input data. Excel Solver problems provide examples of how certain problem can be solved in the spreadsheet environment. These templates include 1. Linear/integer programming 2. Transportation model 3. Shortest route model 4. Maximum flow model 5. Minimum cost capacitated network 6. Quadratic programming 7. Stochastic programming The LINGO/AMPL files provide Examples of the use of commercial software to solve large-scale problems. These files require access to the LINGO and AMPL systems, which are available from the respective Web sites www.lindo.com and www.ampl.com. The naming of all data files is descriptive of the contents of each file, including the chapters where they are used. Also, the inside front cover of the book cross-references the files with book page numbers.

Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP Pentium 233-MHz processor or higher 32MB RAM, 64MB RAM is recommended for Windows 2000, 128MB RAM for Windows XPVGA display, thousands of colors or higher. Ready-to-use Input data files for Tora. Excel 97. Excel 97 and Solver. LINGO and AMPL systems For Tora System, screen setting must be 800x600 or 1024x768 pixels. 1024x768 is preferred.
